Outreach Eye Camps
Our outreach eye camps bring essential eye care services directly to communities that may otherwise have limited access to specialized treatment. These programs help identify vision-related conditions, provide medical support, and facilitate cataract surgeries for those in need.
Kushma Eye Camp
Conducted from February 11–13, 2025, the Kushma Eye Camp was organized with the technical support of Himalaya Eye Hospital and local community organizations.
Impact Highlights
- 2,966 individuals screened
- 154 cataract surgeries performed
- Free consultations, medicines, and vision support provided
- Multiple rural communities reached through screening programs
The camp enabled hundreds of individuals suffering from vision impairment to receive professional medical attention and access treatment that would otherwise have been unavailable.
Hariwon Eye Camp
The Hariwon Eye Camp was conducted from February 18–20, 2025, serving communities across Hariwon and Barhathwa municipalities.
Impact Highlights
- 1,037 individuals screened
- 175 cataract surgeries performed
- Outreach services delivered across multiple locations
- Improved access to eye care for underserved communities
Working alongside experienced ophthalmic professionals and local healthcare teams, the camp successfully restored sight for many individuals living with cataracts and vision loss.

Behind every number is a life transformed.
LAUTE DAMAI'S JOURNEY FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT
Laute Damai, a 76-year-old man from the remote hills of Parbat, had lived in darkness for years due to advanced cataracts, ultimately losing his sight entirely.
Once a self-reliant individual, Laute became dependent on his wife for even the basic day-to-day activities, as his children had long since left and forgotten him.
However, hope arrived in the form of an eye camp organized by Rays of Hope Foundation, UK, with the technical support from the Himalaya Eye Hospital and Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh.
At the urging of his wife, Laute attended the camp, where a thorough examination revealed that surgery could restore his eyesight.
The operation proved successful, and the following day, Laute was able to see again. His newfound vision gives him a sense of freedom, independence and purpose that he had lost due to his blindness.
STORY OF A 99 YEARS OLD BISHNUMATI DAMAI
One particularly poignant story is that of a 99-year-old, Bishnumati Damai, who had been living in darkness for two years due to cataracts.
Completely dependent on her granddaughter for daily activities, she had accepted that she would never see again. However, after undergoing surgery in Kushma, Bishnumati regained her sight, enabling her to see her granddaughter’s face once more.
She described the experience as a second chance in life, emphasizing the transformative impact of the surgery on her ability to experience the world once again.
